Overview
The Australian Physiotherapy Entry Pathway (APEP) is a revised assessment framework introduced to evaluate overseas-qualified physiotherapists who wish to practise in Australia. From 1 October 2025 onward, APEP replaces the previous assessment model with a more modern, flexible, and competency-based process that better reflects contemporary physiotherapy practice.
The pathway is designed to be more streamlined and partially delivered online, reducing the need for travel while maintaining rigorous professional standards. It consists of two main components. The first is a written examination made up of two parts, with a total of 120 multiple-choice questions. The second component is a two-hour online verbal assessment known as the “Capability Assessment.” This replaces the traditional in-person clinical examination. Eligibility
